Underside of ~The1WolfGirl's white tiger sculpture to show off the paw pads. I add these to nearly every sculpture I make but no one sees them in the photos and, because I thought these ones were extra cute, I wanted to post a photo featuring them. :aww:

Clay: Super Sculpey
Paint: Windsor & Newton Acrylics
Finishing Spray: Krylon Fixtatif

Those little paws! :la: They are ADORABLE!
Did you read that article that said white tigers should go extinct? People say that they should be wiped out because they are genetically bred for human entertainment. :(

I love little pawed feets. :D

And yes, I have heard some of the debate over the white tigers. I am definitely against those who inbreed tigers to bring out the white mutation because inbreeding the animals leads to a much higher percentage of unhealthy animals born with defects. There will always be unscrupulous people who will do whatever it takes for money so maybe the best way to solve the inbred tiger population would be to ban white tigers from circuses, zoos, etc so the demand for them will drop and people will stop breeding for them?

On the other hand, I think the pursuit of having white tigers go extinct is silly. It is a genetic mutation that does show up every great now and then, even in wild populations, so there will always be the chance one will pop up. It would just be an extremely rare occurrence. Then the white tiger would be appropriately rare and special whenever one is born. :) Leave it to humans to take something wonderful and exploit it. :(

Unfortunately, its kinda true. It does happen naturally in the wild, but like anything "exotic", we humans have to super breed it and instead of being a simple and random mutation that should only pop up once in a blue moon, they've become more and more common. They're also typically very inbred and have a range of genetic defects (such as crossed eyes, clubbed feet and kidney problems) that make them unhealthy.

Never said it wasn't true :)
Still, I don't see why we have to kill each one on Earth.

I know, just sayin'.

That certainly should not happen. They certainly should not be bred specifically with other whites unless they are totally unrelated (and obviously healthy) and I dont think they should be bred specifically to produce more whites... but as part of keeping the tiger species alive.
