Humans tend to think for them selves and often think of them selves in separate terms when there are differences in speech or in this case levels of sentience. One of the things that I consider a counter point for their dumb ass reactions toward anything that is precious but often undefined and highly different on technological, social or even sentient levels is that they fail to translate simple terms. A lose translation and a dissolution of the need for dominance can do wonders. Honestly, if the term animal was used and translated in such a way to symbolize everything that had to EAT food physically rather than photosynthesis or decomposition and the need to claim dominion over anything that moves it could be much father possible to convince some one to preserve a species or in this case to at least give some respect.
