It's Tahlin! She looks so cute there... I love how the feathers are actually real bird feathers (as in, the colours, not that you stuck real bird feathers on the paper)... I'd just colour them random colours

Yiss, they're all feathers that I've found/own in real life actually. ^_^ I own an eagle feather too, but I couldn't find a good spot for it in the picture.

Wow... we don't even have birds that pretty in Australa... I've found crow and magpie feathers, but our magpies are black and white... apparently the ones in US have a greenish-blue tint? Ours are kinda boring and clumsy compared to pictures I've seen of the US magpies...

The black ones are from Starlings. Their full name is the European Starling because they are native to there but were brought over to the United States a couple hundred years ago by some crazy person who thought that his favorite birds should be in America too. Now they're all over the place and in some cases have become pests. Goodness people, when will we learn to just let nature be?

Anyway, I found a dead Starling in my backyard and was going to keep the skull but the body was carried off by some animal before I could bring it in and clean it up. All that was left were some of the feathers which are this gorgeous black color that when the light hits just right becomes an iridescent rainbow of blues, greens, and purple-pinks.
