Alert Magma Wolf Design by WildSpiritWolf Alert Magma Wolf Design by WildSpiritWolf
This is :iconlcmusiker: 's completed commission of one of my Alert wolves done in tribal magma style.

:bulletred: I do apologize for the obnoxious watermarks but they have been put in place to help cut down on the prolific theft of my artwork as well as to protect the commissioned art that was designed for my clients' use. It is an intensely frustrating thing seeing a design you worked so hard to create being reposted or even sold elsewhere without your knowledge or consent and that does not even begin to cover how my clients feel about it. And that is why the watermarks exist and are going to remain. Any snarky comments regarding them will be marked as spam. :bulletred:

Please do not copy, trace, alter, or redistribute this anywhere in any way, shape, or form!

This design was created specifically for the commissioner's use only. If you would like a design custom created for you, drop me a note or see my FAQ journal entry here: [link] if you need more info.

They're made digitally. You can make them in Photoshop, Corel, probably Sai... etc etc.

Theres a disclaimer as to why they are there and why its so heavy in her artist comments. One has not done it in the past, she has tried. She doesnt have a choice.

Even doing it by hand wouldn't take that much effort to the simplistic nature of the design. But still, I guess she gets her share of art thieves so you do all you can.

Wild gets about 100 or so theft reports *daily*, if not more. Yes, she realizes that people can just trace or digitally remove the watermarks, but the simple act of having the blantant "dont steal" marks that she has now has drastically reduced the amount of theft on her more current work compared to her older stuff. Plus it makes her clients feel better about it being up on the net (speaking from experience), so... y'know.

A hundred a day? I'd be absolutely depressed. And don't get me wrong, I'm all for doing the most you can do in situations like these. Last thing you want to think is, 'Oh, well, guess this isn't stopping all the art thieves, let's just forget about it then!'. At least people who still thieve do so knowlingly and you clearly express that what they're doing is unacceptable. I was responding to this guy who was talking about fancy photoshop filters and something or other that could remove the watermarks easily.

Yeah, I figured you were by your comment (his is marked as spam).. but I was replying to the last bit of yours - she gets way more than her fair share, believe me. Some from newbs and stupid kids who dont know any better, some from young adults who either dont know any better (stupidly) or think that because they found it on google, its fair game.. and some who just dont care. She even gets a few who swear up, down, left and right that SHE stole from THEM - those frighten me a little cause they're so delusional. She had one guy not too long ago swear that the wolf design he had taken from her she'd only posted a week prior to his being caught when it was posted back in '06 (which is something thats recorded when you post... you cant BS it). He was adamant about the design being originally his until that was pointed out to him.

Some go "oh, s--t, my bad!" and delete it right away when its explained to them, but most put up a fight about it. Some get down right nasty about it.

That sort of thing makes me really mad.(I occasionally deal with art thieves, but nowhere near the amount Wild apparently has to sift through) The confused 'I-didn't-know-any-better's, okay, I can live with those. It's sad they're so abundant, but at least those can (usually) be dealt with politely.

The ones that are OBVIOUS thieves, yet go around parading the art like its theirs. They grind my gears. I once asked an art thief why he did what he did. Aafter a lot of denial, beating around the bushes, comment hiding and nay-saying on his part and a lot of persistence on mine, he eventually told me his reason was that receiving compliments made him feel better about himself. Talk about self-delusion... And then there are indeed the ones you're talking about. The ones who seem to have moved beyond that stage and have convinced themselves that they are the original artists and attack YOU for something they did!
When it concerns your own art evidence is more easily provided. But sometimes I recognize works, but either I can't remember who the original artist was or I can't prove that they drew the design first. It's so frustrating.

This whole war against art theft seems neverending...

I have that problem too.. I recognize the work, but cant remember who did it. Though *sometimes* proving it can be a little easier cause dA records when the image was posted - though I remember someone once saying that a friend of theirs posted something, had it stolen and reposted (slightly altered) within an hour or so of it being posted... the original artist was attacked and dA sided with the thief by removing the original artist's work from their gallery.

Sadly, online art theft will always be never ending cause people simply dont get that regardless of the fact that its posted online, its NOT free for grabs.. its copyrighted.

Magma makes me think of Skyward Sword. Don't ask me why. :XD:

Anywho, I really like the way you have flames incorporated with it so that it looks like legit magma and not just... blotches. I'll admit that would have been tricky for me to come up with, a way to have it seem to be magma. As usual, you nailed it. :)

Oh, great use of creative resources! May I ask how you stay inspired to keep drawing soooooo much, every day? :noes: I love art and all, but I'm sitting here with a 13 slot long commission to-do list, and I'm like, gah!

Not sure really. It's just routine for me at this point. Though keeping on top of my commission queue is pretty good incentive at times. :D

Gotta say, I'm envying that 13 order commission list a bit. :XD:

Haha, I would imagine! :XD: You list has got to be like 50 people long. It must never end for you!

I;m starting to feel pretty needed here myself. Today I got a note from a prosthetic doctor in Syracuse, NY whose patient wanted to have one of my designs put on their artificial leg! :D

I like how you did the fur on the back of the neck as flame like, and the flamy shape on the cheek fur, it ties it in with the element
