Amidst a herd of wild zebras out on the African plains, a large book magically appears and falls open revealing black and white images of a few of the country's fierce predators. They leap hungrily from the images coming to life in vibrant color and begin chasing after the zebras causing a wild panic.
A collaboration that my talented friend `PearlEden and I put together when she came to visit!
The idea behind this picture is to bring a blend of artistic surrealism and magic along with some slight realism into the realm of animals. The predators are stylized illustrations that jumped out from a children's book (you might notice a gradient effect from grayscale to color on them!) into a not-quite-real world of zebras that began losing their stripes in their panic, which then formed into ink blotches!
`PearlEden is the one who came up with the concept idea and did the zebras and background blotches, and I did the carnivores and the book.
