African Cubs - Copic Marker Design by WildSpiritWolf African Cubs - Copic Marker Design by WildSpiritWolf
This is :iconsplucy: 's completed commission for a color tattoo of a leopard, lion, and cheetah cub.

:bulletred: I do apologize for the obnoxious watermarks but they have been put in place to help cut down on the prolific theft of my artwork as well as to protect the commissioned art that was designed for my clients' use. It is an intensely frustrating thing seeing a design you worked so hard to create being reposted or even sold elsewhere without your knowledge or consent and that does not even begin to cover how my clients feel about it. And that is why the watermarks exist and are going to remain. Any snarky comments regarding them will be marked as spam. :bulletred:

Please do not copy, trace, alter, or redistribute this anywhere in any way, shape, or form!

This design was created specifically for the commissioner's use only. If you would like a design custom created for you, drop me a note or see my FAQ journal entry here: [link] if you need more info.

I love that you can see the differences between the types of cats. Not everyone can pull off the unique features indicative of the species. It's very beautiful.

Hmm...what do you use to blend the copics? I am fairly new to using them, and don't know any methods to shade..do you have any advice? It would be super helpful. Thanks! :w00t!:

I love how, even without colour, you'd be able to tell by the facial shape which cub is what species. Very well done.

If it is for solely personal practice, that's fine. However, I'd rather you not repost it around the internet or use it for anything other than practice. Thanks! :)

I have seen my art being sold as temporary tattoos, on t-shirts in a Yellowstone gift shop, as metalwork being sold in a store in Alaska... the list goes on and on.

Wow, I can see random individuals wanting to sell your art for money, but Yellowstone? As in the national park???? That's... I don't even know what to say about that. :stare: Were you able to work everything out with them and get them to remove your stuff?

It was a random gift shop in Yellowstone and I didn't have their contact info, so no, I never resolved the theft problem out there.

How do you make it so smooth and rich?

This one was made with Copic Markers, there really is no special way to use the markers. Since they originate from Japan I guess the people there are great with marker ink. But anyway thats how its done. The colored pencils are a different story though.

I feel so stupid. It did say "copic" in the title, but I've never heard of copic markers before, so I thought it meant something else. :s

Dont worry about it! When I first saw the word "copic" and looked at the picture I was certain it was a kind of paint. You should get some copics! They are quite fun to use once you get the hang of them.
